How old is your Computer? Take the HDD out and put it into a caddy to get the Files you want then use it as Backup or if you wnt to throw it away make sure you format it and destroy it with whatever DIY Tools you have Inside there is a Disk Destroy that Disk

By recycle, i mean use old parts to build a new one...
But to actually recycle it, ask local shops, theres some nasty stuff in the compionets that shouldnt be tossed.
Look up e-recyclers in your phone book, or google/bing/yahooooo it for your area.
