Hey Guys,

Just wondering.... On my emachine desktop, how do I check or know what's up with my battery. I mean is the day coming when all of the sudden a message will pop-up an say: low or bad battery?

Thanks people....

This is not written in stone. Usually as a battery is dying, it needs charges with less and less use; they don't just die.

Following on from what Rich said, there are no obvious signs of a battery wearing out. The only way to tell is to measure how long the battery lasts between each charge, but this will only give a rough estimate.

To help keep your battery 'healthy', you should try not to run the battery down low because every time you do this, the capacity of the battery declines. Instead, you should try to keep your computer running off mains power (wherever possible).

OK.... sorry it took awhile to get back here... had to leave. Thanks so much for the insight on this issue. I've only unplugged once or twice to move things around so that's good. I'll take a look at the maintenance tips and see what I can do to keep my battery a happy one.

Thanks again...
