New unwanted hotkey

A few days ago, I discovered that every time I key Shift + x, the window/folder I am working on instantly closes. Very frustrating after typing for 15 minutes when I typed a capital x and the page was lost :-) I have no idea where it came from and I can't trace it to any known application. Any idea how to get rid of it and/or find its source? A complete scan with Avast didn't turn-up any problems.
Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks, Richard. That link wil be useful if in the future I have an issue with a "Windows" hotkey. But, my problem is with the combination "Shift" + "x" . Does anyone know of a method or application (besides the old PC Mag Hotkey Detective, which doesn't work with Vista) that can product a list of system hotkeys and turn them on and off?
Thanks again.
