There something that doesn't look right. Your D drive is marked as active? Have you re-installed Vista before? And the C drive is the last partition.

You won't be able to gain any space of your C drive from within Windows since there is no space to the right of that partition.

You will have to use that link for the Partition Wizard Free Bootable CD.

That makes PERFECT sense!! I would make a backup!! Before editing your partitions.

I think the problem is that my D drive is the system drive unlike my local c drive cause i deleted one partition which was E and there 40 gb of unallocated space and i right clicked on my D drive and the extend thing is there unlike on my other drives so i need a way to make my C drive the system drive

I can't comment on this because I think it has to do with that partition being marked as Active.

Did you try it with the bootable disc or only within Windows?

To be honest, if you have another hard drive or somewhere to backup your files, I would do a new install. I know its a headache, especially in Vista but there's a mess with partitions. The first partition should be your OS normally, unless your in a dual boot setup.
