My Vista Home Premium Edition-64 bit came equipped with eight simple games in the Microsoft Games sub-folder of the Programmes folder-Solitaire,Mahjong.Chess,Spider Solitaire etc. I showed my 10-year old how to play them and left her to it.Now they are all gone and their folders are empty. Is there any way of getting them back? Please help.

Were are you looking for these Games

If your Trying to find them at %System root%\Users\(Username)\Saved Games

Then your not going to find the Games you are looking for

Have you tried looking at Start>All Programs>Games?

Hope This Helps,
Josh

Normally, to restore Windows features you would go to Start / Control Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows Features on and off / click on the + sign to the left of Games and check the Games box and choose the Games you want to have available by checking the appropriate boxes. When you click OK the games are added and icons for them are added to the Start Menu (Start / All Programs / Games).

But if the folders are gone from the Program Files folder then I'm not sure this will work and there's no way to re-install just the games or download just the games to be installed if the actual game files have been deleted. Check the recycle bin to see if they are there and if so, simply restore them and you should be back in business (but from now on use the game shortcuts in the Start Menu to access them (in fact to access any program) rather than using the Program Files Folder which you really shouldn't need to ever visit or only rarely and not just to start programs - it prevents exactly this type of problem from happening). If the above doesn't work, then the only way to restore the games is with a system repair/upgrade http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Thanks, Josh! As it turns out, when I first started using Vista I had to post a question myself to figure out how to add some games that were in XP but not defaulted in Vista and that's when I learned the procedure. It's come in handy several times since then.

Not sure what you mean by being noticed, but I have observed that many of the regulars as well as the moderators and administrators tend to visit a lot of the threads (perhaps to help or correct or edit if necessary, to add comments or alternative options, or just to view and maybe learn - and I imagine to "notice" as well). Though not yet a regular, I do so myself.

Anyway, thanks again and I'm always glad to be able to help as was the case here.
