Taskbar disappears after sleep

A few months ago, my friend came over and was messing around on my computer.
The next day (He stayed over), the monitor went on sleep mode, and when my friend moved the mouse, only my wallpaper appeared. It was slightly smaller (Height was the same; width was smaller), and whatever programs I had running were gone. Even though it came up, the start menu and taskbar were gone. When I pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task Manager, the screen went black and nothing came up. The screen goes back to normal when it's restarted, but it can be a pain to constantly restart, especially if I'm in the middle of downloading something.

I've searched Google constantly, but I might be searching the wrong thing.
I don't think it's a spec issue, since it happened all of a sudden, but here they are (Just in case):

[ABA] atomskx (atomskx)

Any help is appreciated.
I also apologize if these threads are common.

I ran Avast!, and no infected files came up.
I fixed the problem temporarily by changing the time it sleeps to "Never", since it usually does it whenever the screen sleeps.

System Restore is a last-minute choice at the moment, seeing as how it's my main storage for everything I download.

In search type device manager.
Look for any yellow warning markers, they have to be corrected
Then go to graphics make sure the driver is up to date.

Not sure if it worked, since I turned off Sleep Mode.

Nonetheless, I definitely appreciate the help given. Thank you.
