I would like to know if Windows 7 supports two CPU cores at the same time. I heard, and it seems to be true, that Vista Home Premium doesn't allow both cores of my CPU to be used unless I would have bought Vista Ultimate.

Do u find it hard to find programs that are compatible with the 64 bit OS? Do some or all of the programs have an option to execute the program in 32 bit mode?

Not really. A 64-bit OS can run 32-bit programs just fine. It's usually only the utility or security type programs that you need to double check to make sure that they support running on a 64-bit OS. Sometimes they may only run on a 32-bit OS only. The link below at Microsoft can help make it easier to see what is compatible or not.

I'm currently on home premium on a dual core, T5800, and know lots of people on c2d and vista home..
So this isn't true.
The way 64bit os deals with 32bit programs is it creates 2 program files directory, 1 for x64 and 1 for x86, aka 32bit.
Its quite rare now adays to find any 64bit issues with programs.

I think you are getting mixed up between multiple core (single physical processors) and multiple physical processors (single/multiple core). Quote below taken from Windows Vista system requirements - Microsoft Windows
