Does hibernation survive battery change?

If my battery is running low while I am traveling, and I don't want to restart my computer, can I hibernate to save my open work, then change my battery and resume - or will my work be lost if I do that with the computer unplugged.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Gateway MT6840 laptop.

Thanks!

In theory hibernate saves your work before going into hibernation, you should be ok. That being said, assuming that you are in school and a paper is due tomorrow morning, do not trust it to hibernate. Save it yourself.
