User account blocked

I run Vista 32 bit and have four seperate user accounts. One is the administrators account which I don't use and the other three are for me and my family.

Earlier today I was unable to access my account although the administrators account and the other two are still OK.

I tried following the instructions on a web site to delete my account and open another. It appeared to be successful and I can now access my new account but it is empty of documents etc and I cannot find any of my files.

I've looked in the C: drive and while there are two folders with my name on them they are both empty.

Is it possible that I have lost all my files? Surely they couldn't be deleted without the computer showing some indication of what it was doing as it would take a long while to delete them if I formatted the disk.

I have a good back up incase of disaster but I cannot believe the files have all gone.

Can you advise me if this is possible or where I should look for them.

Thanks for that. I tried Recuva but it didn't find much of what I wanted which makes me think they're not deleted.
I do have two good backups however. I didn't want to use them too soon incase I ended up with two versions of everything on my hard disk.

One is on an external drive made through LiveOne Care. Sod's law meant I had to stop using it a couple of weeks ago as LiveOne Care has finished, but the other is with Carbonite which should be safe and up to date.

If anyone has any other ideas on this I 'd be pleased to hear them.

If you deleted the account, this probably wont work. I wonder if the account was disabled somehow?

1. Right-click on My Computer icon on Desktop and select "Manage", it'll open "Computer Management" window. ( You can also open it by giving "compmgmt.msc" command in RUN dialog box or Startmenu Search box).
2. Goto "Local Users and Groups -> Users". In right-side pane double-click on the missing account. It'll open its Properties. Deselect "Account is disabled" option and Apply it.

But more than likely, I missed helping you at all by a mile lol.
