Folder full of pictures disappeared...Help

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, and have a strange issue I hope you can help with...

I had a folder of photos from a cruise vacation I took in 2006, and have looked at them as recently as a month ago. I noticed yesterday that the folder has disappeared from my computer. Here's what I've done so far to look for them:

-I searched through every single folder and photo in my pictures.

-I checked the recycle bin. I never empty it, so I looked though all of the tons of photos there, and nothing.

-I searched my C drive for all photos...no dice

-I searched my computer for all ".jpg" and looked through thousands of images...nothing.

-I saved a couple of the images from this folder on photobucket, so I searched my entire computer for the image name...again, nothing.

I am completely at a loss as to how a single folder with almost 200 pictures in it can just disappear! Is there anything else that I can try?

Please, I'm willing to try anything at all to find these photos.

Thanks so much for taking the time! :)

Welcome to the Forum, Princess

I know how you feel, I had a wonderful vacation many years ago, sent the film to be developed (told you many year ago) and got the wrong pics back.

In any event, try using this software to find the pics.

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

In addition the Pics may be hidden, try this

Also, If you remember some of the name of the pics, etc. type it in search.

I have a friend in Charleston Mt Pleasant, been there many times.

Hi RichC! Thanks for your reply, and the warm welcome!

It really hurts to lose photos, especially irreplaceable ones like vacation photos. I'm sorry that happened to you too!

So I went though and unhid all folders, then searched my pictures again, and nothing new showed up...So I guess that means no folders were hidden?

Also, I downloaded the Recuva, and it is running a deep scan as we speak. Keep your fingers crossed for me!:)

Oh, and I do have two photos from the trip that I saved on photobucket, and they were both called "crownprincess" so I searched my entire C drive for this term, and it found only a thumbnail of one of the pics that I made into an avatar.

By the way, I live in Mt. Pleasant...small world!

If all else fails, download this.
Once you become familiar with it you can see everything on your hard drive.

WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics
When you first see the HD, either put your cursor or click on the segment to break it down further.

I truly wish you luck.

Thanks so much! I hope the scan comes up with something...if not then I'll try this.

I will post back with any (hopefully good) results.

Another few suggestions about search Melody. Try an Advanced Search and check the box that says "Include non-indexed, hidden + system files." Then try a few different searches: one by title, one by date, most recent first, and one by extension (i.e. jpg, bmp, etc.). Also check your Temp (not Temporary Internet Files) files.
