hey,

irecently reinstalled vista 64 on a new hard drive and i have noticed something that i have never noticed before

when you type in services in start menu search. and right click on services.msc, there is an option called "Author" i have never seen this before.

was this always a part of vista? is it normal to have this?

Thats always been there. Its the author of the service... aka who made it. It judst alows a different way to orginize and search.

Mine does as well, and I have 32-bit Vista Business SP2 - so it isn't just a 64-bit thing. I haven't the faintest idea why that is there but it may have to do with other .msc filetypes (which use the same right click menu) where it may actually serve a function whereas in this one it is essetially pointless.

There's nothing wrong with your system and you have nothing to worry about and you aren't missing anything. If we all have it and our systems are working fine, then it's just part of the programming that doesn't apply in this circumstance (but may in others though I'm not certain about that).

Sorry we can't give you anything more clear, but we're a bit perplexed ourselves.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
