Hard Drive, startup, and profile problems (oh my!)

Hello all, I am new here and have joined out of total desperation. My laptop started slowing down and freezing, so I just said the heck with this and powered it down and went home. at home, I started it up, and waited a long time. after a few tries my heart stopped as I saw an error about not being able to find BOOT/BCE or something. long story short, I thought the HDD had failed, but it didn't sound like it, so I took it to Radio Shack and he suggested that maybe a virus got on it and messed it up, and that I try Hirens boot disc, and the vista recovery disc. using Mini XP on the boot disc, I discovered that all of my files are intact. I then proceeded to download a restore disc for vista on another computer, and I used the repair option, it took forever in between options and screens, but I eventually fixed it so that it would boot up successfully. I then tried to log in and got this;

The user profile service service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded.

it then logged me off and shut the computer down. I researched this and discovered that it might be a problem with the registries regulating this. probably another victim of the virus. I then used regedit in mini XP to try to change it, but from what I deduced, I cant. no problem, I did some more research and discovered that I could try it in safe mode since the only account on it has admin privileges. so I start up in safe mode, and get logged in. now I am stuck at a blank screen with the build and SP at the top and "safe mode" in the corners. ctrl alt del brings up the options, and I can get into task manager, but I can't do anything else! I have a feeling that the virus is undoing what I have done faster that I can re-do it. so now I am stuck. what do I do?!

Just an update, it would no longer boot to the login screen, so I tried running the repair option again and got this error code for system files integrity check + repair

error code = 0x45d

as a said, this virus is messing things up faster than I can fix them, the computer now stalls at the green loading bar with (c) Microsoft Corporation underneath.
