Re: Safe Mode

Hi Douglasbradley,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

I must say you have me somewhat confused. I need your help clarifying the situation with more information and by answering some questions.

How exactly did you "install" Vista from safe mode? What exactly did you do (and what exactly are you trying to do and why are you trying to do it)? I don't quite understand the situation. Could you please explain in detail exactly what you are attempting, why you are attempting it, how you are attempting it, and the situation at the moment. What are you using to do the installation (a genuine Vista Installation CD, a Recovery Disk, a Recovery Partition, or what)? What method of installation are you using? What type of installation are you trying to do? Why are you trying to do it from Safe Mode (and can you get into safe mode now or are you unable to do so any longer)?

Thanks!

Re: Safe Mode

I have got Toshiba satellite A205-S4567 model from my uncle, but its doesn't run operating system and I have also got 2 Recovery Disk. Fist time I have tried with Recovery disk, doesn't work. Then I have tried many time with Vista Home premium edition which DVD are not with the Notebook. How I have did, " boot from DVD and its installing at the end its automatically restarted then screen is turn to black for long time, operating system did not start." Now I have try to get in safe mode but gives message windows did completed installation, Restart your computer. I have restarted but same. I have checked before the vista Installation, there is no any operating system. I have heard that some one tried to install the Windows XP, What can I do?

Re: Safe Mode

You say the Recovery Disks don't work. What exactly happens when you try? Where and how does it fail? Does it give you any error messages (if so, what exactly word-for-word)? Are these Recovery disks from the SAME computer you are trying to fix or from another computer? Are these disks from the manufacturer or disks that you made from the Recovery partition?

When you use these recovery disks, are you booting to them or trying to run them from the system? You must boot to them to get them to work. To boot to the CD you may need to change the BIOS to make the CD-drive first in the boot sequence. To do that, wait for the screen that tells you the F key to push to access the boot menu or boot setup. Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work, and exit. Put the CD in the drive and reboot. When prompted, push any key to boot from the CD.

I hope this helps. If not post back with more answers and we'll try to figure out what is happening. The fact that someone tried to install XP on the machine should have no impact on doing a clean installation from the Recovery Disks - so don't worry about that part.

Good luck!

Thank you

Actually when its tried to install XP that time they broken partition also formatted the hard drive, Now I am trying to install vista but it didn't install. Vista DVD is not original its bought from shop. I have recovery 2 CD. How can I install the vista?

My Computer

A format from an XP installation is pretty much the same as one from a Vista installation - so that makes no difference whatsoever - but if we can, we will try to do a full format again just to be sure. This is not an issue though if the drive was not PROPERLY formatted it may be the cause of your problems. We'll deal with that as we proceed.

Is the Vista version on the DVD the same as the one on the Recovery disks or different? In fact, to be clear, what version is on the Vista DVD and what version is on the Recovery Disks (e.g., 32-bit Vista Business SP2 - I want that level of detail)? Is the Vista DVD a full installation DVD or is it an upgrade DVD and do you have the Product Key for that disk?

As far as the recovery disks go, I still need the answers to the questions about them I posted just prior to your last post. Please provide ALL the answers - even if it means you have to type a bit to do so. I need this information to give you the correct recommendations.

Thank you!
