Problems with 3GB switch

I have an application that requires a large memory space and I want to use the 3GB switch. I tried setting it using "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" but it doesn't seem to work.

My system has 3G of RAM, Windows Vista home premium.

Is there a way to check that the switch is on?

Any help would be appreciated.

The command "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" sets the value for the 'current' OS entry as no {GUID} specified.
To list the contents of Windows BCD for the 'current' OS entry use:
"bcdedit /enum {current}"
Alternatively use this GUI tool: Free Windows BCD Editor - Windows 7 and Vista
It can display/edit every detail in Windows BCD store.
