Solved GPT Protective Partition - Problems!!!

I have an external HDD that I have problems with. I originally had it as NTFS for Windows XP, I then I bought a Mac. I re-formatted to Mac OS Journal and since then have had probs. I have since attempted a full reformat back on Windows but have the following problem:

In Disk Management the disc is shown, but with no Path, or name. It shows as Healthy (GPT Protective Partition). When I 'right click' the ALL options except 'Help' are greyed out. I have started in safe mode as Administrator and I am still unable to do anything with the HDD at all. Any ideas please?

Cheers in advance!

Ok fixed now!! Basically go to cmd prompt, type 'diskpart' select the disk (e.g select disk 1), type 'clean', the disk should now show in Computer Management as 'unallocated'. Right click and then left click on 'initialize'. You are now able to partition and then format the drive......Viola!!
