Solved Making date appear along with time on the task bar

Hi, it's little bit odd that I noticed that the date on the right side of the task bar doesn't display anymore. There are only the time and the particular day displayed but not the date. And no, making more vertical room doesn't solve the issue :-)

Any thoughts?

Try this, no guarantee....
Start > Control Panel > classic view > Regional & Language Options > Format tab > click "Customize this format" button > Date tab > at the bottom, click Reset > OK

Date shows up now ?

Date shows up now ?

I was hoping, but it didn't :-(

Go back to the Date tab....
under Date formats heading, decide if you want short or long date format.
Then click the selection, example : click M/d/yyyy ( for short format )
Then Apply/OK

Does that work ?
If not, I am out of ideas except doing a system restore....
If this prolblem is les than 15 days ago.
If you remember a date when you did not have this problem, and use that date as your restore point.
If you have a restore point dated that far back.

now this is weird: changing it works but only for some cases: d-M-rr, rrrr-MM-dd and rr-M-d show up however d.M.rrrr and rrrr-M-d does not and d.M.rrrr is my default and I like to use this one. And by the way I am neither willing to do a system restore nor I have a restore point that far back. I just don't get it why it always worked and now it just doesn't?

ah no matter, I just copy/pasted long format to short and and seems to work,

so I would like to thank you, at least now I know where to look when (if) it disappears again ;-)

Nice to know you have sorted it out.

RE : System Restore.
I failed to understand your reluctance to do system restore other than you did not have the restore point needed.
System restore is the " first line attack " when dealing with computer issues. It is as routine as have a cup of coffee in the morning. Nothing to it.
Do not mistake System Restore with System Recovery. 2 different animals.
System Recovery is done as a last resort when all else fails and your system crashes.
System restore is done to nullify any wrong settings known or unknown to you. It is to "roll" back to a date when there is not problem and start from there. Like a time machine principle.

Marta, Was your date displayed all the time, or did you have to set your cursor on top of the time display, in order for the date to show up?

And, what exactly did you do to set it to hide? In other words, walk us through the process to see if that's where the problem is.

I mean I set the entire task bar to hide so when I move my mouse cursor over the bottom of my screen it shows up and when I move it away it hides. You know what I mean. I didn't hide the date, time or anything like that.

The only way I know how to make the date always appear in the Task Bar does involve having a double-level Task Bar. See Brink's tutorial on Date and Time. Also, if you need to change the format, here's this tutorial: How to Change the Date Format in Vista.

I already have double level task bar and I'm not sure if you've read the thread but me and djch129 were discussing the formatting stuff :-)

Imperfect1,
If you were accessing this forum via NNTP, please be advised that this matter had been resolved between the OP and I about 2 days ago.
