Auto Play not working with Camera

I have been trying to get the Auto Play to work for my Sony Cybershot camera for the past month but to no avail :( I am using a HP Pavilion Notebook - with Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. The software I have for the camera only goes as far as XP, and Sony stated that there is not a download for Vista & Windows 7 since they both have the AutoPlay. I have gone thru and made sure the box for Auto Play has been checked and the camera is set to use import pictures using Windows, and have worked with HP reps for hours on this. I am not very computer saavy in comparison to many but I can get around to different areas in my computer. The Auto Run was working in April, but I was getting lazy about uploading pics for quite a few months :o I am afraid if I use System Restore that I am going to lose everything since that date.

I am using Kaspersky AV 2010, my USB port works fine (blackberry, WD HD, Nook all work fine as well) When the camera is plugged in my Kaspersky kicks in asking if I want to run a scan, and my laptop makes the connection sound. I click do not scan, but auto play is still not there. When I check the information in my computer it does show up as a device and if I go through some extra steps I can copy the DCIM file and create a new folder. Without the Auto Play and zero software for this $400 camera it is very time consuming to delete pics and do other actions.

I have been doing a little research, figured out that the Shell Hardware detection is working. At this point I am not sure if it is the Kaspersky that is preventing Auto Play or if the NoDriveAutoRun is set correctly, and I'm not saavy enough how to get in and make those adjustments.

I would appreciate any input, since I won't have much hair left to pull out :) Hope I didn't leave anything out.

TIA

Edited to add CDs play fine - just camera issues

Hello Sheri C, if i remember correctly Kaspersky Internet Security does have an option that disables Auto Play. As yours is Kaspersky Anti Virus i don't know, you may just have to have a rummage around in Kaspersky control panel & see if you can find it.

The other thing as your software has not been updated since XP you could try running the program in compatibility mode for XP, here is a tutorial on how to do that;

This is another tutorial on how to manually apply Auto play setting but if Kaspersky is disabling your auto play you will have to correct that first;

Hope this is of some help
