Solved Show conventional folder options!!!

Hi all.

I've searched the forum but I can't find any solution to this problem.

Now with previous versions of Windows in the folder options you could see file types tab which shows all file extensions that are registered and which app opens each extension. On Vista this part isn't available/visible. The main reason being is I want to change the default icon to something else.

Does anyone know how I can view this option in Vista 32bit?

Cheers. ;)

Thanks for the link Shawn but none of the sub links help. Its amazing how simple operations can be cocked up with Vista and Win7. ;)

Did you use a 256x256 pixel Vista style icon? It will not work unless you do.

I don't need any icons as I make my own or extract them from other apps. I just want something that you click on to show the icon then a button to click to find another, just like Windows has done for years. ;)

Yeah, unfortunately that feature has been removed since Vista.

You could use the free configuration utilty program named Types to easily change a file extension icon to what you like in a easy to use window instead of through the registry.
