Hi, My favourites list has just disapeared all of a sudden.

When I went into it it on my browser page everything was just gone. After a few seconds a window popped up saying location not found.

I saw someone else had the same problem but their reply was not useful to me. :zip:

Please if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Looking forward to your reply. ;)

Arrielita.

Hi, Thankyou for your quick reply.

I went to the link and did all these steps I needed to do, I do think this woman is on the right track but I did change the favorites to the right location and it still isnt working, I'm going to try system restore then I will let you know how it turns out. First I might Restart the computer to make sure what I did, did work and if it didn't I'll do system restore. I realy hope it works. :(

Get back to you soon.

SR may be able to help. Set it 2 days before the problem.
However, not sure that favs are part of the OS.

Arrggg!!!! Even SR didn't work!!! I really don't know what to do now. Ok so, so far I have SR my computer to two days before but before doing this I went to that link and followed the Restore Favorites To Internet Explorer, changed the location of all keys to the right location as stated on the last step. I hope I didn't stuff my favorites up even more. What should I do from here, this still isn't resolved......

My Computer

Lets see if they are still around. If this comes up negative, I do not have much hope.
Go to search and type favorites.

I know this is 'locking the barn after the horse has been stolen' -- and probably something you don't want to hear right now, but in the future, BACKUP your Favorites folder just like you would backup any other folder. I copy mine to a travel drive -- but you could copy yours to any 3rd party hardware on which you save your files.

Imperfect1: How do I backup files? I havn't backed up any of my files but am very interested. ;)

Brink: I did go to your tutorial but my favorites folder is there and is easy to find.
I did follow the correct location path instructions though. I will restart my computer now and I so, hope that it works. If not I will let you know exactly what my pop up says when I try to see my favorites in my browser window. :p

Thanks everyone for your kind help. :D

Imperfect1: How do I backup files? I havn't backed up any of my files but am very interested.

The easiest way to backup your files is to copy them onto a travel drive (aka memory stick), CD, or other portable device. Insert the device (if a travel drive, for example, insert it into your USB port), open Windows Explorer, click once on your Favorites folder to highlight it and right-click on it to press Copy. Then take your cursor down to the drive your portable device is on. Click on it once, then right-click on it and press Paste. It will take a few moments for the information to transfer, but for all intents and purposes, that's it! Favorites are copied. And of course you can and should back up all of your other folders/files as well!!!

You can back up favorites by clicking on file and then export. Export or send to any of the devices mentioned in the previous post.

Do you have the Favorites folder located at the default C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites location?

If it's not, then Favorites will not work in Internet Explorer even though your Favorites folder works just fine at another location.

The only triangle I can see is the red one but when I clicked into it, it says that is only supposed to be used for reporting spam emails and such. Let me know please. :)

Arrielita, you're not the only one who thought that. I've been a member for almost two years and I never knew that the "reporting" triangle was what you clicked to show that the post problem was solved! Shawn, why don't the administrators (+ web designers) add some mention that the red triangle is also for showing that the post has been solved? Perhaps a lot more posters would mark their posts as solved, if it was a little more obvious as to how to mark them.
