Solved Rehibernates

Vista 32 Home Premium

If I don't use my computer shortly after bringing it out of hibernation, it will go back into hibernation by itself. Is this normal? If not, what area should I look to to correct?

What are your power option settings? Does this occur only right after awakening and remains idle for a short while and once used for a bit, the problem disappears, or does it occur anytime you let it sit idle for a while? Is this something new or has it been this way since you started using hibernation?

This is getting good!.
Power options: High Performance and advanced options for hibernate.

This only happens when coming out of hibernation - If I open Windows Explorer or something and then leave the computer alone, it does not go back into hibernation.
Time from wake-up to going back to hibernation = about 2 minutes. Changed the default sleep return timeout setting from 120 seconds to 180 seconds - time to return to hibernation is now about 3 minutes.

The reason I switched from using sleep mode to hibernation mode was because my computer would wake itself up from sleep and would stay awake.

So does this change resolve the hibernation problem? You can make the time even longer if you want to make sure you have enough time to prevent it from returning to hibernation.

As far as sleep mode goes, you need to find what is waking the computer and disable that. This might help: A computer that is running Windows Vista appears to sleep and then immediately wake. While I prefer and use sleep mode myself, it really is only a little bit longer to awaken from hibernation - so if you still can't resolve the sleep issues, you can post back and we'll try to get to the bottom of it or you can stay with hibernation now that you know how it operates.
