My PC (Studio XPS) will not read my brand new windows seven cd.

I know I have compatible software, I've checked that a million times.

Whenever I put my brand new windows 7 CD in my computer, it acts as though it cannot read the disk (there are no scratches on the disk). However, when I put in a DVD or a CD in my computer, it reads it with no problem.

Is this a software problem or a driver problem? Or, is it something else?

I've been wanting windows 7 forever and when I finally got it, I can't install it. It is a big bummer, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure that is not the problem, however. I think that the CD is defective or your drive. If you test your drive and other CDs work, it may be your drive

Make sure BIOS is set to boot from the DVD.
