Hi,

Try pressing Fn (Function, bottom left corener of key board) & F4.

This should activate the external monitor function of the laptop.

I did that aready! the probem is after the bios shows up and the windows are loading, vista returns it to primary monitor and I cant bring it back to secondary monitor even I press fn +f4.could I be able to set it in bios?

OK,

Have a go but if you need to get into windows to change the primary monitor there & there is no BIOS setting for you to change, you will be struggling.

Do you have access to an identical laptop?

You could then swap the disk, set it up & reverse the swap.

I am not sure about the XP option. I have never install the operating system that way on a laptop.

I would need more information on the specific laptop, make, model, Windows version, updates installed etc. etc. The more the merrier.

Sorry the information on your "old" laptop is just not specific enough.

I need the model number & which version of Vista (Sevice Pack status) you are using as per my request earlier, etc
