Hello!

So sorry for the delay! Sometimes we get busy. I'm sure you know the feeling! Right, please do the following:

Code:
d4-1125nr....Is my machine in DANGER.............. x0000000000000064) components

Never seen that line before. SFC must be acting up. LOL.

OTLI.gif
OTL - Download or alternative link here and here to the Desktop. Make sure it is called OTL.exe, and nothing else.

Download OTL to your Desktop and run it.

Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

/md5start
TrustedInstaller.exe

/md5stop

  • Click the None button, followed by the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open one notepad window. OTL.Txt These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of this file, and post them here.
If you cannot download OTL, download it onto a memory stick on another computer. Use notepad.exe > File > Open to navigate to the memory stick, copy the OTL.exe to the Desktop, and then continue with the instruction.

Thanks!

Richard

OTL just scans in this case - it does not make changes if you followed Richard's instructions not to make any changes to the settings. If done as instructed, the only "changes" to your system will be the addition of the program itself and, after running it, the OTL.txt file the contents of which you need to copy and paste to your reply after the program is run as requested and produces the file.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! Since we now know that trustedinstaller.exe is actually not corrupt, just a different version, I am not going to try to fix it, but let sleeping dogs lie. The only other corruption shown was settings.ini, but take it from me that this is NOT a problem. You can see more information about it here if you wish: The SFC.exe command reports Settings.ini file errors in the CBS.log file after you add gadgets to the Windows Vista Sidebar by using the Sysprep tool and an Autounattend.xml file

Since we are discarding the information from SFC as solved, what problems remain on your computer, and let us see if we can fix them!

Thanks!

Richard

Niemiro is off line right now.
I will give my opinion and if Niemiro or Lorien disagree they, too, will give you the benefit of their expertise

If you are asked by a well known Company, that YOU have called, and are sure of their identity, I see no reason not to let them fix your computer remotely. You should sit by the comptuter and watch every move while on the phone with them. If something you do not understand, you should ask. If you do not like the answer or are not given a satisfactroy one, you can stop the session.
If you like Vista, there is no need to upgrade. Enjoy what you have. The difference between Vista and Seven is not that important to require an immediate switch. I like it more than Vista, but would not switch because of the minor improvements and the eye candy.
I have been using player that comes with the OS and have found it to be trouble free and all that is needed.

I agree with everything Rich has just said. If you trusted the company, and asked them to do it then I think it should be fine. Make sure you watch them, and if some random somebody asks to let him fix your computer, then always say no.

I use Vista for all of my work. I could upgrade but I really see no point. If your computer is running well, then just leave it as it is would be my opinion. I slightly prefer Vista, but that is only really because I have not taken the time to get used to 7. So, unless you have a really good reason to, and I can't think of anything really big at the moment, then leave it is Vista.

The media player that come with Vista is perfectly fine. If you are not having any problems, then don't do anything. You will probably not like the alternatives as much. If you are experiencing an issue, and cannnot play a certain format, you probably need an alternative, but they have been known to cause very small problems, and steal file association. Install them only if you need them. If you ever do need one, my recommendation would probably be VLC, but as I said, don't install it now. VideoLAN - VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player
