how to get rid of Security Shield?

Where is it and what did you try to get rid of it?
If you can run your anti virus. See if you can remove or isolate
Download and run malwarebytes. Try to isolate or remove

Until you know what the problem is I would wait with the SR. Our experts have said at times that it would be permissible, I would wait, however, and get an answer for your specific situation. The last thing that you may want is a virus spreading to SR.

I tried Sys. Restore and it won't let me complete it. I guess a big magnet to the Hard drive might do the trick :sa: Or a 50 pound rock on the drive.

It stops at 27% of the expand files. It is a real pain

My Computer

You could try the 75 pound rock or you could wait until tomorrow when the security people come in. I will notify them about you and you will receive excellent care. Trust me on that one.

This sucker has really locked up my computer. I have Avast and Advanced System Care as my protection but it does not even see this . Apparently this is a new pest. I went to Google and called up Security Shield and it gave me the low down on it. Not Good for sure. One of the notes said "I should pay .95 cents and it would give me a lifetime License and promised not to re-bill me again."

Thanks going to bed

Richard thanks for responding. I do not know how to do most of the stuff you told me.

This thing is crazy, when I turned on the puter this morning, I had the same "Black Shield" and the constant popups "Do you want to continue to go unprotected". to which I keyed in "No". This went on last night for over an hour. Then suddenly the Black Shield was gone and the only thing I have is a "Red Shield" with a White X in the middle of it.

I did a Full Scan with Avast, it took over 1 hour to do it and it never finished. It hung up at 72% so I shut it down. Funny thing when I tried to reinstall the OS, it hung up at 27%. Strange that it has a hangup at exactly 100% total.

I am going to try to back up the puter to an earlier date and see if I can do that now. Not sure if my OS disc is damaged either.

Hello!

See if you can follow this:

Click on the words Safe Mode at the end of this sentence for lots of details: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/123496-safe-mode.html Follow METHOD one methodically, and all should be well.

Then install MBAM as shown below, from Safe Mode.

mbam.png
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware a.k.a. MBAM - Download Free Version (freeware) - Homepage
Why? Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is very good at removing the zlob trojan, virtumonde, and most other current infections. This single tool has replaced multiple tools that have been required in the past.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, confirm a check mark is placed next to the following:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. The rogue application should now be gone.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please paste this log here.

Note: Some infections will prevent MBAM from running. If MBAM won't run, try renaming the file mbam-setup.exe to a random name, and then try again.

Good luck!

Richard

Thanks Guys,

I don't know if it is gone or not. Everything is working okay the "Black Shield" is gone and all appears normal. Downloaded Malware as you advised and have 2 other Viris programs working/ The only down side is it takes anywhere from 1 hour to an hour and a half to scan my computer.

Is it possible Security Shield is still there undercover? I had to put a hold on 2 of my money accounts just in case. That is a pain, just like losing your wallet. Hope they have a special place in hell for the "Hackers".

The senior members suggest MSE. Some of the others even cause BSODs, cost money and use a lot of computer resources.

Ill be checking yours soon. But some AV do cause BSOD. The only one that I know that never has is MSE. Its made just for Windows the others one fits all.

Richard

I did download MSE, took 2 times to get it right. Would you believe, after I said that Security Shield was gone, I hit Start and All Programs and guess what I saw? Nothing but 2 Security Shield Folders. They were Compressed Zipped Folders. All I did was delete them and they went to the Recycle Bin. Then I fllushed the Recycle Bin and hopefully they are gone forever.

Don't know how they got Compressed and Zipped. Thanks for your Help.
