Solved Incompatible version of the serializing package

Hello; this is my first time on the forum; looking for help for dummies format:confused:

I did check in one of the archives about my current issue, with an incomplete backup message, but I still am unable to understand how to fix it.

Is there a tutorial that I can follow?

Out on a limb with this, and really looking for straightforward pointers, that if I action them, I will be successful!

With many thanks,

Hello Richard and thank you for your response. At computer startup is when I see this notice about failed automated backup.

Appreciate the link you've supplied and I will see if it's something I can work through.

Hello!

Thanks for the info! There is more we can try, surrounding that link, but that fixes most issues. Good luck, and you are more than welcome!

If you are prompted for an administrator password, type the password

I will be looking further at completing this task not until tomorrow since it's late here now. However on reading to this quoted note; I am a little hesitant. My late husband was administrator and I have no idea what password he may have used.

This is my dilemma; I've computed for years, but he did all the technical side of it. In fact it's possible he was a member of this forum as thebay, or thebay28, (Des).

Any suggestions? Can I go somewhere else first and change administrators and add a new password etc? I suspect this is something I'd need to do before the rest.

Such a complex message this is becoming.....OH, and I've just been able to find that it is Vista Home Premium, 32-bit, I'm using.

Hello!

32bit is far more common than 64bit, but since it doesn't matter to us at the moment, I left it, but well done!

Give the instructions a try. If they work, then great. If you have issues with the password, you will need to follow method one here: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/102005-reset-user-account-password.html

If you are not the administrator, then you will need to follow method three at the same link to remove the password. At that point, you can follow my very first post.

Don't worry about getting this done to any sort of deadline. Whenever is convenient to you :)

Good luck!

Richard

Richard, I had family staying since Christmas and I only just got to using your instructions to work through the backup details you provided.

I'm here to tell you it was successful :) and I'm so relieved it worked.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Take care!
