Solved Copying the uri of a file to the clipboard
What is the simplest way of copying the uri of a file to the clipboard?
Simple question, but after twenty minutes I don't have the answer. I can get the folder from the properties, but not the complete folder+file.
Paul
Hello!
Hold down the shift key and right click. This gives you more options on the right click menu. Select copy as path. This will do exactly as you asked, but be aware that it has double quotes around it.
Good luck, and I hope this helps!
Richard

Thanks Lorien. I am going to avoid this for the moment as I dislike playing around with shell extensions as they sometimes come back to haunt you. Although I do use a tool called ShellExView to view / disable them when I am trying to sort out problems or conflicts.

Hello!
The quotes are actually less of an issue than they first appear. After all, when pasted into Commands and stuff, they will do no harm, indeed they are required when spaces are involved, and when pasted into documents, quotes look alright. I spent years going into Folder Options, and then typing the file name. I just thought that there MUST be a better way. I Googled and Googled, and one day, joy of joys, I found out about shift > right click, and now I can share it. Glad to be of assistance, and I don't think you are an idiot at all - not at all. It is virtually impossible to find unassisted - agree?

Exactly, or notepad, or a hundred other things. And anyway, I still don't think that the quotes are nearly as much of a problem as they first appear.
