Windows Photo Gallery

My computer received a virus, which was caught by Windows Defender. As a result, some files in both my C: and J: (external hard drive) were quarantined / deleted. I got my C: working again via a diagnostic/fix disk, but my J; was no longer registering on my Windows Explorer and every time I tried to reboot it froze up my computer.

Long story short, I have been told J: may be recoverable via a data specialist (in a clean room) at a very high cost ($800-$1200). Not much of value on the drive (from what I recall), but there is about 1 year worth of photos.

I've noticed that my Windows Photo Gallery has the images saved, but only as Read Only and I cannot copy or move them because the file path was to my J: drive. Any idea how I can transfer the photos back to my C: for safe keeping?

Thanks in advance...
