See if this helps

System restore, from before the crash may help too.
But try the tutorial, first

I think that these things are the first steps that you should try.

Be sure to make an antivirus scan and download and scan with malwarebytes to be sure virus was not the cause of the crash

Also be sure if you use system restore you go back about a week or so, to make sure there are not crash conditions. Be sure to test for virus, before using restore.

Hi frank8619,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

If you're talking about the taskbar, see Richard's post for the tutorial on how to work with that first to see if it helps. The thing is, I don't have Home on my taskbar and never have (though I suppose I could add it to the Quick Launch area) - it certainly isn't a default. I could also add a links toolbar to the taskbar and add a Home option, but that's not commonly done and certainly not a default. So I'm not certain that's what you mean.

If you're talking about Internet Explorer and not the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then right click on an open area of an existing toolbar to see the list of available toolbars and the one you want to check (the one that includes Home) is called "Command Bar." Check it and it should be available again.

Whether or not that resolves the problem, to make sure this wasn't caused by malware or a virus, download, install, update, and run a full scan with the free Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/,

If that doesn't work and after running Malwarebytes, do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began (and give it a little leeway if you can just to be on the safe side). Here's the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html. Be sure to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed and uninstall any software you removed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

P.S. To post a screenshot save it as a .jpg file. Then click on Go Advanced and click on Manage Attachments. Click one of the Browse buttons and find the screenshot file and click Open and it will be listed next to the browse button. Then click on the upper upload button. It should show it added as an attachment. Close the window and return to your post. It will be attached (but won't show as a screenshot until you actually post and then it should be there).

Hi,

Are you talking about the Internet explorer command bar?

If so, go to: -

Tools
Toolbars

Then tick the command bar listing.
