C:\Users\Ethan>
As you can see I am.. missing some things. I'm not sure exactly why and it started a few days ago so System Restore is out of the picture (being only till the 9th).
My computer is an Asus and is a laptop, I don't have an OS disk. What should I do?
And here's my specs, courtesy of CPU-Z.

I would use image link but that doesn't seem to work.
And if you need anything else, feel free to ask
Many Thanks

Hello!

I will try to deal with your corruptions as soon as possible, but it might have to wait until the weekend, as I am currently taking a short break.

Other than that, if you get that message again, could you please tell me which .exe is crashing?

Thanks!

Richard

Hello!

Not really! :) Anyway, could you please do me a favour, and navigate to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS, and copy CBS.log to your Desktop > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload that here.

Thanks!

Hello!

I am sorry for the slight delay! It looks as though SFC fixed quite a few of the corruptions, but we can never be sure without a retry. Can you please re-run SFC, and re-upload a new CBS.log?

Thanks!

Richard

I've been experiencing food poisoning, so I just now was able to check things.
When I run SFC this occurrs.

Code:
C:\Users\Ethan>sfc /SCANNOW

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 22% complete.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

C:\Users\Ethan>sfc /SCANNOW

C:\Users\Ethan>sfc /SCANNOW

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

I then ran chdsk through the command prompt.

Code:
C:\Users\Ethan>chkdsk
The type of the file system is NTFS.
The volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk
might report errors when no corruption is present.
Volume label is Vista64.

C:\Users\Ethan>
C:\Users\Ethan>chkdsk /?
Checks a disk and displays a status report.

CHKDSK [volume[[path]filename]]] [/F] [/V] [/R] [/X] [/I] [/C] [/L[:size]] [/B]

volume Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon),
                  mount point, or volume name.
filename FAT/FAT32 only: Specifies the files to check for fragmentation
.
/F Fixes errors on the disk.
/V On FAT/FAT32: Displays the full path and name of every file
                  on the disk.
On NTFS: Displays cleanup messages if any.
/R Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information
                  (implies /F).
/L:size NTFS only: Changes the log file size to the specified number
of kilobytes. If size is not specified, displays current
                  size.
/X Forces the volume to dismount first if necessary.
All opened handles to the volume would then be invalid
                  (implies /F).
/I NTFS only: Performs a less vigorous check of index entries.
/C NTFS only: Skips checking of cycles within the folder
                  structure.
/B NTFS only: Re-evaluates bad clusters on the volume
                  (implies /R)

The /I or /C switch reduces the amount of time required to run Chkdsk by
skipping certain checks of the volume.

This volume will be checked the next time the system restarts.

This is mind I restarted the computer and the chkdsk did not actually do anything, unless it did it without showing me anything.
This in mind, I ran SFC again and this happened.

Also note the .exe that crashes on startup is nvvsvc.exe, a Microsoft Runtime error or something along those lines.

Cheers

My Computer

Hello!

Sorry to hear that you have been ill. I was too, very recently. I hope you make a full and swift recovery.

That SFC error requires a complete analysis of CBS.log. Would you do the uploading honours please...

Thanks in advance!

Richard

Not exactly necroposting as this wasn't fixed, but I have recently found the Recovery DVDs.
I have 2 of them.
Is there something I can do with sfc with these cds? If so, a link and a quick explanation should suffice.
Thanks
