my hard drives are working properly but they are not displayed in the disk management.
so what can i do for it?
and my computer icon on the destop was deleted by mistake so from where i can get back my computer icon also i deleted the icon from the recycle bin..

yes my drives shows in Windows Explorer but not shown in the diskmanagement the screenshot of the diskmanagement is given below

i also download the malwarebyte and scan my system it detects 12 malware and removes all malware but problem not solves still hard drive are not displayed in the disk management.

Download the free version of Easeus Partition Manager: EASEUS FREE Partition Manager Software. Free Partition Magic alternative for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Windows Server 2000/2003/2008. Hard Drive partition software. and run it and see if it can see the drives. If so, there may be some issue with the Disk Management program. If not, then I'll be somewhat confused as it would suggest drive management software in general can't see the drives and I'm not sure what would cause that - but in either case, the following processes and procedures are recommended:

Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / Command prompt and right click on command prompt and click run as Administrator.

Type sfc /scannow and enter and let it run. It will scan and try to fix some of your system files. Hopefully it will complete with no corruption it could not repair (if there is such corruption post back here or try to analyze it to find the problem file(s) using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228. If it finds errors, run it three more times and use the report from the last run. Try to attach the report (you may need to copy it to your desktop before it will permit you to attach it) here so we can see if they can be repaired with good copies from the installation disk or other system files (unless there are too many).

While in Command Prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run. It will want to schedule itself to run at the next restart. Answer yes and then reboot to run the program. It will scan and try to fix any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and mostly remove that as a potential cause.

If that doesn't work, then please post any error messages from the Event Viewer concerning disk management (Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer). Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.petri.co.il/vista-event-viewer.htm. Look in the System section.

If that doesn't work, try a clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit causing the problem. Follow the procedures in the article. Once found, delete, remove, deactivate, or uninstall it. Once done be sure to reset Vista back to normal status as explained in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal status and reboot - this solution is not going to work.

Boot into Safe mode and see if the problem in Disk Management occurs there. Either result helps us narrow down the search for the cause.

I've just had the same thing happen to me. It had me tearing my hair out for four days. The system disk was missing in Disk Management (and in Device Manager) and all sorts of weird redirections occured in Firefox. However, disk tools such as Acronis Disk Director could see the missing drive and its three partitions.

Turned out it was a TDSS rootkit trojan: a very nasty thing that takes over control of the atapi system and your browsers. After many failed attempts to remove it I found a utility called TDSSKIller here:

How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)?

I ran it and, 30 seconds and a reboot later, it was gone (I then spent a day checking all my drives with various anti-virus products and making new backups!)

Wow! thank you so much! Been messing with this for about 4 days now. I wanted to dual boot windows7 and solaris and needed to set some partition free. But Disk management, did not show C drive. Now my problem is solved. Thanks a lot!
