I have 64bit Hp Pavillion with Vista Home Premium 64bit and it seems a S2 service pack installed. I now have a Vista Ultimate 64bit and wish to install it to get the better features.

When I try to install Vista Ultimate 64bit it says I have to go for clean install. I do not wish to do this.

Any way around it?

hi alecro, you have a bit of a problem here, you cannot upgrade to ultimate as the existing version of vista that you have installed is service pack 2, you would need to contact microsoft so they can send you out a new disc with SP2 pre-loaded, the only other way is to create your own disc using the original disc and pre-load SP2 using vlite or similar software, sorry.

Thank you. Is it possible to uninstall the S2 pack from Vista Home installed already and then install Vista Ulitmate and then download the S2 pack update for this from MS free?

I notice though I have lots of incremental updated files related to the Home Vista besides S2. Would these stop the install even if I could uninstal the S2 first?

Would not wish to lose all my files and programs by a mistake.
