i noticed microsoft fixit the other day, was thinking about tring it but wanted to ask all u genusis about it first, is there any reason i shouldnt? thanks for help

If you read the explanation carefully and it applies to your problem, there is no reason not to try. That being said, most fixits are simple adujustments that can be done manually and the manual method is, sometimes, also, given. Since you are trying to learn, I would try to follow instructions and try the manual method.

I am not a pc genius but I have used Microsofts' FixIt softwares. They are problem specific if I remember correctly. They have proven themselves helpful in at least three situations. If they do not solve your problem Microsoft gives place for you to describe your problem so that they can improve their service.

Hi jasond,

I also have it installed and use it whenever a situation occurs where it applies; however, Richard raises a very valid point in your case. If you are trying to learn about these things, then perhaps doing it manually is a better option for you (though you can of course recommend the fixit solution to others when one is available as they just want the problem resolved and fixit is almost always easier and generally safer).
