USB HDD Drive Letter Missing

My Iomega LDHD320-U USB HDD was running just fine with Vista 64 Ultimate [Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.0.6002.18005"] until recently when it disappeared from My Computer [no drive letter] but was still visible to Device Manager. When I rebooted the drive letter reappeared but later when I resumed [from sleep] it disappeared once more. I searched the Internet but found no likely remedy.

I searched my System Event Log and found that my Windows Disk "C:" had a bad block [Event code 7] and so I scheduled a CHKDSK scan & repair on the next reboot. It took hours! but eventually found the bad block and seemed to repair the disk. The USB HDD drive letter reappeared after reboot and it now persists even after multiple sleep / resume cycles. Have you had this experience? do you have any explanation? Thanks.

There was some sort of conflict. I would assume something like a driver that failed to load.
This issue might have occurred after you installed, uninstalled, or updated a program or Windows Vista.
It may have been from corruption.

If it were my computer, I would make an SFC check and if everything is ok, I would just enjoy the computer.
