White Screen Blues

So I've recovered from my viral problem with a worse problem. Following the advice of someone on here I decided I should stop dragging my heels and buy a replacement screen for my laptop. I remove the old one and put in the new one and test it: all systems a-okay and I'm able to use it for 8-10 hours straight without any problems then I start getting ready for bed and have some amusing videos running to chill me out when the screen suddenly cuts to white (sound from the video was still playing flawlessly without lag/skipping) so I go "uh oh" and force it to shut down and restart it only this time it stays white and doesn't go any further. I tried hooking up to an external screen and it doesn't show any picture or anything. =( I tried opening it up and fiddling with the cords to see if one is loose or something but nadda. Any help would again be highly appreciated.
