Tell us about your computer and its specs.
I see that you have an emachine. You have the minimum that can run Vista. You will not get good perormance. It is for email, surfing the net and not much more.

This is normal
Most computer have what is called a post beep. The number of beeps and the sequence (long or short) tell you what the problem is. In your case we know that it is memory.
There are only 3 reasons that you will have a post beep.
1) The additional ram is not correct. You cannot mix and match. You must buy all the ram at once.
2 Your computer cannot use the additional ram as you have an E Machine.
3 The ram is defective.

If you have too much ram, the computer may beep as it cannot handle all the ram that it has been given.
