Not a good idea - and I tell you why. You never know how those services are used. E.g. if you turn off the Tablet PC service, the Snipping Tool will not work. Other example: If you turn off the Defrag service, you cannot shrink a partition in Disk Management. - Get the idea?

If you want to understand services a bit more go to this site. I use his safe settings and also turn off print spooler and all media player services.

You may set them to manual and observe their influence on your system. This is abit fair coz whenever a service is required then it would be loaded up automatically without your intervention.

Hello all,

OK...

attached are two .bat files.

the first (CREATE Services Start State Backup) file creates backups of your services configurations.
the second (Services_Thu_02_24_2011_04_49) file is what I am currently running.


before you left click them to merge, right click them and choose edit and view the contents of the text.
