Problem with removable media in Vista

:D

Hi folks,

I am hoping someone out there can shed some light on this issue for me.

I am a computer tech working on a customers Vista pc that did have a virus and now is free from both virus' and spyware.

The system is working well apart from when you plug any sort of removable media into it. It doesnt matter if it is a flash drive (memory stick), a camera memory card (SD Card), or the digital camera via a USB cable, and it recognises all the media as a CD and opens a window stating 'you have files waiting to be burnt to a cd'.

If you click on the 'files waiting to be burnt to CD' window, it produces a blank screen and then closes.

You can manually go into the my computer part and access the media that way.

I have tried to revert the 'autoplay' settings via the control panel but that did not change anything.

There is no 'open with' option if you right click on the media in the 'my computer' section.

There are no conflicts in the device manager.

The system's hardware, including the bios is fully updated.

Regrettably the customer wants it back the way it was before the virus (where you plug a device in and pictures automatically get identified and downloaded to the pictures folder, or at least to ask you what you want to do with the device). At the moment I am out of ideas short of a re-format.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the last post about the stop CD Burning message.

If the reg edit that was sent previously doesnt work (file just emailed to customer to try), I will give that ago as well.

Fingers crossed and all that.
