Solved Possible Security Update Problem

I have been using Photoshop Elements 5 on computer with Vista OS for several years now without problem. Within the last month I suddenly have not been able to open the editor with the Photoshop program. I was wondering if one of the recent Updates may be the cause. How can this be determined?

Welcome Bob
Lets try several things to see what the cause of the problem is
Run a full and updated anti virus scan
Download and run malwarebytes, updated and full scan
Make a clean boot to see if that helps.

If the above does not help us determine the cause, try in safe mode

You might even try a System Restore back to when PS was working.
It may have been caused by something you downloaded. IMHO

Or and this is something I would do and have done, scan for AV, do a back up and save all important PS projects then use Revo Uninstaller and remove PS and all its leaches. Then re-install after re-booting.
Keep us posted as to your progress.

This morning I was about to turning off the preferences for Photoshop Elements to see if that would clear my 'no editor' problem. Before I did so I checked to see if I could open the editor from the browser and surprisingly it did. So the problem that I had for several days suddenly vanished. Go figure !!!!

Maybe it was the Photoshop Element fairy that waived her magic wand.
