Folder icons using random pictures

Hi all,

Small but very annoying problem. i've tried searching the web for a solution, but haven't been able to find one. its driving me crazy. sorry if this has been posted recently, but any help would be appreciated!

I use Vista home premium. I have folders with pictures in them so I selected a picture to represent the folder in the icon.
However, this has caused mayhem. For folders that have nothing to do with pictures (system folders, music folders) vista is selecting random pictures to represent them.

For example I go to a system folder and it's icon is a picture from one of my picture folders. I didnt edit the system folder properties, and when i try to change it, nothing happens.

Any help?

Thank you

thanks rich, but that isnt exactly my problem

System folders use the picture folder template with random pictures as the icon... Right clicking and changing the properties doesn't work...

restore defaults in the customize tab of the folder you originally changed..

I've already tried the regedit fix, but that just changes the view settings, not the icons.

My actual problem is the icons themselves:
I open up a system folder that has several folders inside of it, say 10 folders, all displaying icons. 9 of the icons will be normal folder icons, but 1 of them will have a random picture from something on my hard drive as its icon.

Am I doing something wrong?
