Solved Ordering QuickLaunch Icons

Is there an easy way to arrange the icons in the QuickLaunch Toolbar.

It is possible to move icons, but putting them where you want them (next to a specific icon) is not easy. One of the most difficult, is to try and change to 1st icon for one of the others. You cannot easily predict what will happen.

I have a case where I want to place the icon at the bottom, next to an icon from the same prog half-way up the list. (I keep mine on the left hand side of the screen)

I've searched the registry and cannot find an entry there. Not sure where else to look. Any suggestions welcome

Does this work?

Open an empty folder.

Drag all the icons off of the Quick Launch bar into the new folder.

Drag the icons back to the Quick Launch in the order that you want.

Lock the taskbar.

Hi,
I wonder if this is just been pre-determined chaos by Microsoft!
Is it possible it could be a Registry fix?

Great idea. Worked perfectly.

Hi,

Is it possible it could be a Registry fix?

I renamed one of my shortcuts to QQQZZZQQQ, then did a registry search, but got no hits, so there appears to be no Registry entry for them.

I like the idea of pre-determined chaos tho! Excellent phrase.
