hi,

i want to import .MTS files from an sd card using autoplay but there seems to be no option for that on my vista machine with sp 2 in the autoplay popup dialog.

the options chosen in the control panel menu for autoplay do not seem to help.

i have a friend who can do this using their similar vista machine.

we have scratched our heads quite allot to figure this out but no luck.

i have tried to run autoplay repair but it keeps crashing with no result.

can anyone advise please?

thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

When you say it crash's what are we talking about, does it hang, does it freeze, not responding, or is it a blue screen, it is very important on what kind of crash.

Please tell us when this problem started and what were you doing at the time, did it crash the first time or after a few times of trying.

Plus I want you to do the following right away.

1. Run a full updated virus scan using you internet security...
2. If you don't have malwarebytes then download and run a full scan, here is the free version. Malwarebytes while running your AV or malwarebytes let it run and don't use your computer until it's done, let me know when you do the scans and the results. I want to know that you do not have a virus or malware on your system. This will not take to long...

hi,

i have run a full scan using the malware software you suggested. no malicious items were detected.

the crashes before were announced by pop-up dialogs which said that the "program had crashed"(sic)

autoplay repiar did not crash this time but there are only three options in the tab related to how to handle video files.

the options in the autoplay video tab are "Play using windows media player", there is a windows logo with no explnation, and there is a third item in this tab for adobe photoshop elements with the subtitle "Organize and edit".

but when i insert an sd card with .MTS files into the reader i am not presented with these options in the autoplay dialog. and changing the options in Control Panel>Autoplay does not help. (there is no effect from settings there)

my goal it to have the .MTS files transfered to the hard disk automatically and then erase them from the sd card.

how can i set this up please?

thank you.

I'm guessing your friend has a program installed that allows them to be imported.
