Solved reformat and fresh install of vista 64

im wanting to reformat my HD and reinstall vista how ever it gets to 47% and i get this error
0x80070017

whats the best way to format and reinstall from fresh ?, im doing it from desktop just running dvd ?

thanks for any help

Hello Combat Goofwing,

I find that booting from the installation DVD to do a clean install with works best. Be sure to backup anything that you do not want to lose first though.

Do you have a friend that you can borrow their retail 64-bit Vista installation DVD from for a few hours?

If so, then try installing Vista Home Premium 64-bit from it to see if it will install. Be sure to use your product key number and not theirs though.

Managed to get it working just cleaned the disk even though it had only ever been used once,so ran the DVD from desktop and reinstated and it created the old Windows folder on the HDwith all my file in but I had backed up what I needed.so now I a fresh install of Vista running but it will not.see my modem when I connect it to the pc,tried 2 modems when I try to connect to net it says,no hardware detected
