Lost all administrative rights!!! :/

I can't make positively any changes to my user account- as everything on this pc is basicially administrative required. I AM the only adminsitrator on this computer (that I see externally anyways) and have no other users or guests who log in to it. It was working fine the other day and then after installing a bunch of updates from windows, I lost all privilalges as an administrator. I can't even download ANYTHING as it says I do not have the correct permissions to open the file. This is extremely frustrating. Please help, in a understandable way for the less computer-literate people such as myself.

I did the safemode and got rid of a foreign account that I have never seen before. Now I have my administrative rights back. I do have one issue- I have Bit defender. And it has never, ever updated sucessfully once since I have had it last year. Is there anything that may be causing that?

Hi,
As your admin account had been altered.
Plus your AV, has not updated itself, I would suggest, uninstall Bitdefender and:-
Download Microsoft Security Essentials

First, to assist in the elimination of possible virus and/or malware.
I would ask you to please use your Anti-virus full scan program facilities, making sure, you have updated the software first. Please advise us of the results.

If you do not have any anti-virus loaded please go to this link and download Microsoft Security Essentials :- Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware

Secondly, please download:- malwarebytes Malwarebytes a Malware searching program, again, an updated full scan. Notify results please. Both these programs are Freeware

I had some major virus from Microsoft Security essentials (or that mocked itself on being MSE but was doing harm rather than good). I hope that it doesn't return. It almost knocked out all of my information. I will try it though, as you know what your'e talking about.

Silly of me! Did you take note of what the foreign account was?
Did you delete it, can you remember anything about it?
Sorry, but could be relevant!

All I can say is I have it on all my computers, & all ok.
It is your choice, if you've had bad experience use the Bit defender if you prefer, I wonder why it has not updated is it set at manual?

No it was not set to auto-update. Well all I remember is that the account name was Asp.Network (something or other else to go along with it that I don't recall unfortunately.. ) It didn't seem normal so I removed it and that is now why I have my administrative rights back.

Please, I am just concerned asamericancritic is, that with the unscheduled change to your ADmin.
Plus Bitdefender not updating then virus/trojans/malware etc, may or may not have had the opportunity to get into your system.
This way we will hopefully be able to ascertain the state of said 'nasties' in your system.
I have included some links asp.network. related don't know if anything rings a bell?
