User accounts

When my grandson comes I have a general user account set up for him to play his games on. Some of the games require to "run as administrator." When those games are opened in this general user's account, the box pops open asking for my password. Is there any way around this -- any way he can open and play his games without me having to run in and type my password every time he decides to change games -- which can be quite often?

Thank you for your response, but I don't think this is what I'm interested in. I'm the one who selects and installs the games for him and all that is fine. I just wish there were some way around having to enter the password for my administrator's account when games are opened that require being run as administrator to open and run.

Hi, sorry there was nothing of use in the tutorial.
If you are the one that buys and installs the games, one has to ask why put them under an admin password, when you don't really want it?
You can use the suggestions in the tutorial for the % of control you want.
But if you insist in putting them under password control, then that control is only doing what you asked it to do.
You could use time control also as a restriction!

I am not the one deciding they have to be run as administrator. I have a membership to Shockwave Unlimited. That's where I download the games from. Sometimes they will not open and run and then the site will suggest using the "run as administrator" option, which most generally works. However, it is aggravating when I have to use this option to get the game to run on my grandson's user account because then I have to run in and sign it with my administrator password. I was just hoping there was some way around this. Awhile back it seems to me that I even removed the password from my administrator's account but that didn't work either. I'd still get the box asking for a password and if there was none then no way to open the game.

Oh! I see
I understand a little better now of your problem. You don't set the standards, so to speak, Shockwave do, or however the game is categorised.
I cannot instantly think of a way round it, well there are obvious ways round it, but that leaves no control, and that we DO NOT want.
Other members when they see the post may have a better idea, or even done something similar for their kid's so I will not give up trying to look for a solution. So hang in there we may find one somewhere. OK?
Sorry, I could not be of more assistance to you at this time.
Regards.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

If you are the administrator then set up a user account for him, which will still allow him to play the games, then just logon as the user account and not the admin, you can do this by doing the following.

1. Click Start
2. Click control panel
3. Click use accounts and family safety
4. Then just follow the on screen directions

If something happens in the adminstrator account then there can be a lot of problems, by setting up a user account they can click the user account and play all they want, you can have as many user accounts as you want and this is the best way so nobody makes a boo boo in the administrator account..

Do you know which games you downloaded require " run as administrator " ?
If you do, maybe, just maybe, this will help...
Right click at the game's exe file, or its desktop shortcut > click Properties > Compatibility tab > under Privilege Level heading, click " run this program as an administrator " > OK

From then on, that game will run as admin.
Try if that works.
