Software conflict causing black screen of death

Ok so I'm a dork. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that I downloaded PC Doctor to eliminate a fake trojan attack then decided to download McAfee as well. Big mistake. Now my system boots but comes up with a black screen, white cursor where the logon should be. I've tried rebooting in every kind of safemode. I've tried rebooting with the Vista reinstall disk, but no go there either. I figure I have a software conflict but how the heck do I get past the black screen so I can logon and deleted one or both of the softwares????

PLEASE HELP!

Hey Richard, thanks for your help about Ubuntu. I was FINALLY able to get it installed on my laptop but I'm having some trouble navigating thru it.

I'm unable to get online because it says "Wireless networks device not ready (firmware missing)" . Any idea what the heck I need to do to get this fixed?

Also, is there any way to access my vista system thru ubuntu?

Thanks again for your help. ;)
