Movie Maker Freezes upon publishing

So my video won't publish on Movie Maker.
As soon as I click publish, the screen goes white for a few seconds, then I get an error message saying: ''Windows Movie Maker has stopped working'', then after it closes I get a problem report pop up.

I have never had this problem before.

I've snooped around on the net and found several things. Now i'm not very good when it comes to the 'technical' talk, so I found myself slightly confused... but most 'solutions' I found were relating to Voxware Audio Codec. Whatever that is.

So I followed these instructions:
''-Enter regedit.exe with Adim permission
-Expend HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Wi... NT/CurrentVersion/Driver32
-Right click msacm.voxacm160 and rename it to no.msacm.voxacm160''

(Posted on these forums in November 2007)

But it seems I do not have a msacm.voxacm160, so thats where I hit the wall.

Any help would be most apreciated!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I had something very close to what you have and I found out it was a trojan..

1. Please run a full up-dated scan using your Anti-Virus...

2. Please run a full scan using mlawarebytes, if you do not have it already then download it, here is there link and use the free version.

Malwarebytes

If this comes back clean then we will work on repairing your system, do not use any restore points untill we know that you are not infected, if the scan comes back infected then follow the instructions and let the software delete them...

Thanks very much, now you say that i'm very certain thats the problem. My protection is currently out of date and needs renewing, so i'm not well protected. As well my parents say they have recieved emails from me that I didn't send. Aparently i've got some minor virus as a result of that. I'll check now, thanks for the download link!

I am going to send this to one of the forum experts on security and have them look at it because you said that they received emails and you did not send them.

Please download the malwarebytes and the security software this will protect your system and it will also delete from your system if it finds any malware or virus's...

Yes, they also said that the emails they recieved off me, was aparently sent to everyone in their contact lists as well. It's spread like wildfire. I've seen the email, it is entitled only as ''FW:'' but with no subject.

Scans are done.
They found just over 230 items infected. I would say about 98% was AdWare. I found no trojans, but there was a Malware, and a couple PUP.'s, whatever they are.
Just going to restart the computer as it has requested

Oh, and that download link you sent me, i'm afraid it says it is not compatible with the version of windows i'm running. it wants to know if I need a x64 or x82 bit version of the software, or something like that.

After you get rid of all the malware then please retry downloading the microsoft security.

Click Start button...
Right click on computer...
Click properties...

This should take you to a page that will tell you what software you are running, write down your specs and then tell me what it si...
