Help With Vista Activation Key

Please help if you can!

I am doing a system reboot back to factory settings on my HP Laptop, which came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. However, when I type in the product key found on the Vista sticker on underside of my laptop, the system tells me that the key is invalid.

I have rebooted the system before with no problem. I can't imagine what's wrong now. I really don't have the money to buy a new Vista package, and in all honesty that would be a complete waste of money considering I have a perfectly valid version sticking to the bottom of my laptop. I have never bought a copy of Vista, my computer didn't come with a disc for the recovery of the system, I had to make those... if anyone could help, I would certainly appreciate it!

The key under your laptop could have worked if you had genuine installation disk, by this i mean the disk that came with your lap. If it's not present then you'll have to install vista without key then activate it later under system properties.

Hello ,

If you dont have the genuine recovery disk, you better call to HP Customer Care and ask for your recovery disk. If your laptop is under warranty thay will send you the disk at zero cost else they will charge you a minimal for the disk. Once if you get the disk preserve it at safe place, because it is forever for your laptop.

Your OS is OEM, so the activation key only works with that disk and also it is only for your laptop.

Hope this will help you to recover your laptop to factory setting again.

Thanks.

Arvin

They'll send it, but as far as i understand the OP's issue, it won't help him.

The key that he has isn't working... infact, i think even my 1st replies wrong....

When reinstalling/restoring the system, he gets to the "Please enter your key" screen, its telling him the keys wrong.

The recovery software/disk won't come weith a new key, its just a disk with the same stuff he's trying to load using f11.

Now to the OP.... really double/triple check you key #, as w and m and such are really easy to mix up.

The key you are having will work as long as it's genuine whether you have restoration disk or not. The only different that restoration disk has is that during re-installation of your system you'll not be prompted for a key since it's encrypted within the cd itself. So if you are using another disk that didn't came with your lap then online activation will work. Make sure you re-install the os version indicated on your quicker, otherwise it will not work.
