Toshiba Sat L450D on Win 7 DEAD?!?!?

I posted about this pesky rascal a few days ago, the inverter is missing. Anyway, I digress.....I have just got round to testing her and she's dead. I have connected her to an external monitor as the inverter is missing. When plugged into mains power there is LED indication on the battery and power LED. When I power on the power LED illuminates for a few seconds and then goes out. There is no indication of life on the external monitor.......should I remove the BIOS battery for a while, or has someone come across this problem before please? Thanks in advance......Rik

sounds to me like the motherboard has gone, it would remain on even if plugged in if it was a BIOS fault,

That was my worst suspicion! Worth buying a new board you think, or just strip for parts?? It's trauma waiting for spares to sell though if (like me) you are not an 'established' repair avenue...............

It's a bit of a nightmare changing a mainboard on a laptop, I would strip it for parts, on a sold as seen basis, just incase there's a few other parts that are faulty, or you could sell it as it is and say that the mainboard is faulty, it's up to you
