DDR2 memory problems

Hey all, New specs!!!

Anyway i have bought a new memory kit for my single 1GB DDR2 800MHz stick.

It is a Hyundai 1GB DDR2 667MHz stick.

NOW MY PROBLEM

Windows boots quite slow so i checked CPU-Z and it reported my RAM speed as 200MHz (400MHz DDR2)


I've looked into bios as to why but i have not changed anything. In bios RAM SPD is set to Auto and in Overclock iset it to 533 but it does NOTHING.

To check the RAM issue, I better suggest you to run Memtest86+. This test will take some time, so keep patience.

ok i will have to run tomorrow as it is late here! also i put it in dual channel and made no difference... Could it be driver related or PC-5300 and 6400 arn't incompatible? I overclocked cpu from 133 FSB to 140 and the MHz Jumped to 210MHZ. could it be a controller problem?

Just run the test and it will clarify every doubt. and then hopefully we will solve the problem.

Ok and one more thing: My board P5ld2se supports 667MHZ max. ALSO after testing both sticks INDIVIDUALLY at a time, the speed still stays at 200 MHZ. thats 1GB of DDR2 800MHz and 1GB DDR2 667. I dont think thy are faulty as the 667MHz is NEW!!!

I dont think at this stage the RAM are faulty. First check why these are showing 200MHz by your system. Once after test we will be able to tell you what are the reason.

As you are running two RAM with different speed of 800 MHz and 667 MHz, system works at the lowest RAM speed, i.e., 667 MHz.

Yes and that would be 333.3 in cpu-z. Maybe vista chipset drivers are bad? Before i upgraded my video and ram i had my single 1GB DDR2 800 and even that ran at 667MHz due to that being max supported by my mobo. I tried swapping to my crap vid but that changed nothing. I have even resetted BIOS. All of a sudden it just slows.

EDIT: Ran memtest86+ no errors

I think it is my latency.

The only speed that that matched both sticks are 4-4-4-12 @ 200MHz

I changed the mobo to a really old 478 one and the speeds rose.

Obviously its my mobo BUT the single 1GB DDR2 800 that was in alone before i bought the NEW stick said 667MHz.

so what happened. It suddenly stops functioning.
