C drive using 500MB daily

    C drive using 500MB daily

    I have Vista Business SP2. My C drive is filling up 500MB aday. I will run out of disk space soon. I have disabled restoration, paging, indexing and hibernation. I have scanned my C drive for virus. It is clean. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Download windirstat and lets see if we can figure this out.

    Clean the disc
    Disk Cleanup
    All this being said it may be the shadow copies (system restore) that takes the space.

    Hi
    try using AVG pc tuneup or Ccleaner to clean up junk files; including unwanted system restore points from your Pc, also ensure that you defragment your harddisk.

    WinDirStat is good. It showed me the temporary files which can be deleted on my C drive. I recovered 5GB! I noticed that winsxs and installer are huge. I managed to reduce winsxs by 500MB by running a clean up.
    Pagefil.sys is 3.5GB. I disabled paging and wondering if I can delete Pagefil.sys.

    Thank you all for recommending tools to clean and tune up my PC.

    Can I delete pagefile.sys? What is it?
    Dont tamper with winsxs, its an important juncture point.
